Tanzanite Engagement Puzzle Ring with Custom Spanish Posy Ring Shadow Band

Here is the very first shadow band that we ever made – we still think it is amazing. Our client wanted a wedding ring that would fit to the side of the puzzle ring. He wanted it to be suggestive of a claddagh band but without being an actual claddagh design. An Irish claddagh design includes hands, heart, and a crown meaning ‘may love and friendship reign.’ For this ring, we went with the hands and the heart.  We still love the stylized hands with graceful wrists and cuffs. 

The shank of the shadow band was to be very special. We hand-engraved lettering on the shank: ‘no tengo mas que darte,” Spanish for, ‘I do not wish to love any other than you.’

Marquise Diamond Puzzle Ring with 2mm Shadow Band in 14K Yellow Gold

This hand-woven engagement puzzle ring is a truly unique piece, because the 1/2CT diamond is so long that it looks more like a 3/4CT diamond. In a marquise diamond, length and width is everything. Yes, the 2:1 length to width ratio that is considered to be ‘ideal’ is lovely. But when we find a diamond such as this one that is extra long, we jump at the chance to get it, as it will give the impression of a much larger diamond at a lower cost. There are three dimensions for a marquise diamond: length, width, and depth. An extra long marquise diamond may be a bit shallower than the next diamond. We find the length to be such an important characteristic that it can outweigh other diamond characteristics. 

 

For example, we normally select diamonds with only D-E-F color (top of range). But if we can find a diamond shaped like this one, we will even accept a color of G or H, with our client’s permission, of course. 

This engagement puzzle ring has four bands and an open weave – see how much air is seen between the front loops of the ring? An open puzzle ring weave like this is generally paired with a shadow band that follows each nook and cranny of the edge of the puzzle ring.

Both rings are entirely hand-made. Although we cannot promise we will find a half-carat diamond again with these dimensions, we will be happy to make you a set like this with a glorious, sparkling diamond that you will have the opportunity to approve before we set it in your bridal set. 

Marquise Diamond Engagement Puzzle Ring with Celtic Knotwork Shadow Band

The puzzle ring is entirely hand-woven, meaning that each loop and curve of the puzzle ring is formed by hand by our expert puzzle ring maker. The shadow band is cast from a one-off, original hand-carved wax that is custom fit to the shape of the puzzle ring.

You may choose any diamond size from 1/3CT up to 0.72CT. For a larger diamond, we will make the puzzle ring just a little heavier, and it will still pair well with this shadow band. Celtic Knotwork-Inspired, Marquise Aquamarine Engagement Puzzle Ring and Bridal Set

This ring is an exquisitely beautiful, hand-woven, Celtic knotwork-inspired, engagement puzzle ring shown with a one-half carat marquise aquamarine. 

We love this image of the puzzle ring, because the aquamarine appears very sparkly. 

Jewelry with gemstones is notoriously difficult to photograph. Sometimes the lighting is just right to make a photo pop like this one does. But it also depends, of course, on the characteristics of the stone. 

Aquamarine, like many colored gemstones, may vary in quality and visual characteristics depending upon the mine from which it comes – so availability changes over time. 

Of the three photos (the one to the left; the one that it links to; and the one below), the one below of the bridal set is probably the most true representation of aquamarine gemstones currently available.  

However, you need to bear in mind that depending on how your monitor is calibrated, you may not be seeing the truest color. 

We think aquamarine is simply sublime, reminding us of a tropical ocean and a gentle sea breeze.

0.70CT Aquamarine Engagement Puzzle Ring with Five-Diamond Shadow Band

The aquamarine at left is the truest representation of aquamarines available today. AAA grade (best) aquamarine is very clear and transparent. The only higher quality is found in a certified gemstone, and those tend to be larger, usually 1CT and higher. This is because certifying gemstones is expensive, and only the larger stones are certified. If you would like us to source a certified gemstone for your ring, please contact us directly. There are usually few certified aquamarines available, but we can search for you.

The aquamarine at left is 0.70CT. We cannot always get this size, but if you wish to order this puzzle ring bridal set, we’ll scale the diamond ring so it’s perfectly proportioned for the aquamarine on your engagement puzzle ring.

 

 

Our puzzle rings and bridal sets are individually handmade to your order. The puzzle ring is hand-woven, which means that every loop and curve of the puzzle ring is formed by hand. Crystal Clear Toasting Glasses – Arthur and Guinevere

This pair of clear toasting glasses is sumptuous in pewter, crystal, and 23K gold. Guinevere’s dress is finely detailed. She holds a 23K gold plated rose with an  Austrian crystal in the center of the blossom. Austrian crystals embellish her crown. From her belt hangs a beautiful purse. Arthur is dressed in a cape with a dragon finely inscribed on the back. Chain mail peeps through the slits in his sleeves. His sword is plated with 23K gold. Best-Selling Purple Champagne Glasses: Dragon Heart and Dragon Wing Heart Toasting Glasses

Here are our best selling purple champagne glasses in two styles of dragon heart toasting flutes.  Our pewter artists have been making these purple champagne glasses since 1978, and every year they become more popular. It’s no wonder why! The detail of the dragon sculptures is unsurpassed.

Each pewter base for the champagne glass is created from an original, hand-carved wax sculpture. The sculpture must be finished to perfection – each delicate detail exactly as the artist intends it in the final product. As you can imagine, if there were any problems with the wax sculpture, they would be transferred to the mold and then to the casting, so this is why the original sculpture must be perfected. 

These champagne glasses are made in a remarkable process. Every day when these purple champagne glasses are shipped to our customers, we take for granted how lovely and perfect they are. But their creation has taken many difficult and challenging steps.

Once the sculpture of the dragon base for  these champagne glasses is perfected, a mold will be made. A mold contains an exact “negative” of the sculpture. It is a block of material that has an empty chamber in the shape of the original sculpture. Now wax is poured into the mold. It is swished around until the coating of wax inside the chamber is the correct thickness. Now there is a hollow wax copy of the original sculpture, and it is removed from the mold. This wax is detailed carefully to remove all signs of the parting line where the two halves of the mold came together. The next step is spruing, in which the hollow wax sculpture is attached to a tree-like structure through which the molten metal will flow.

This sprued wax copy is now dipped again and again into a slurry of gravelly material until it coats the hollow wax copy to a thickness of up to one-half inch. This dry shell is now heated in a kiln until it becomes very hard. During this process, the wax runs out. Now the hard shell is placed in sand, with the open end up. Molten metal is poured through the sprues, until the hard shell is completely filled with pewter. It is allowed to cool. Then the hard shell is broken away. Now each pewter dragon heart champagne glass base is finished by hand to remove all traces of casting, a painstaking process involving much detail work. At last, a polished piece emerges. Of course, it takes two of these sculptures to make a pair of these remarkable purple champagne glasses. 

Once cast and finished, the pewter dragon sculptures must be hand-adorned. Now the artist applies Austrian crystals for eyes. The artist also places round Austrian crystals in the rocks at the bases. Our handmade toasting flutes are offered with five colors of glasses, including two shades of blue: royal blue and sapphire blue – a light pastel or powder blue.
The artist from the foundry creates each base by sculpting an original wax sculpture. From that, a mold is made, and then each piece is cast from that mold. Sparkling Austrian crystals are hand-applied to most of the designs, and then the glass flutes or wine goblets are added. Your children will cherish these heirloom quality pieces, when you hand them down. And you never need to worry about breakage, as we can replace the glasses for $25 each (2018 pricing), including shipping and handling, once you have sent them back to the foundry.
